Palmer offers Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Treatment Programs for young people age 12-21 based on their individual needs. An assessment is the first step to determine what customized level of care, if any, is needed. Walk-in assessments are conducted every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to noon at 5319 S Lewis, Suite 219, Tulsa, OK. No need for an appointment.
Our treatment philosophy is based on the concept that addiction is a biopsychosocial disease with program goals including the promotion of abstinence, improving overall functioning at home, school, in the community, and improving family relationships.
Palmer’s trained professionals meet with each young person and his or her family for the assessment before recommending a personalized treatment plan. Family participation is encouraged with the understanding that the client’s success in recovery is partly dependent on the family’s knowledge of addiction and the recovery process.
For those clients needing services, total program length can range from 4 education sessions to 6 weeks or more of combined group, individual or family counseling sessions as well as relapse prevention and recreational activities. Treatment sessions are offered in both the afternoon and evening hours at several locations to accommodate schedules of teen clients and their families.

Outpatient Treatment Programs
Teenagers between the ages of 13 to 18 attend weekly sessions for 12 to 15 weeks to address issues they are experiencing in dealing with drug use and behaviors and skill deficiencies that are common to drug use. The regular services include one weekly group session, one weekly family group session and one individual/family session. The program provides the client with drug refusal, problem solving, anger awareness and management, communication and effective coping skills to enhance their social support and recovery.
Clients are assigned a primary counselor once admitted into our treatment program. Each primary counselor is currently certified as an alcohol and drug counselor or is working toward that certification, under supervision of a certified counselor.
Group sessions include no more than 12 clients. Family group sessions may be larger, with additional counselors present.
Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program (IOP)
This is an intensive program that focuses on bringing stability to the client and his or her family by providing intense education and counseling. The structured program provides 9 hours of treatment weekly for approximately 6 weeks. The program is designed to provide essential education and treatment components while allowing clients to apply their newly acquired coping skills within their real life environments.
Curriculum includes substance abuse/chemical dependency; problem solving; interpersonal skills/boundaries; anger control/management and family dynamics. Treatment is continually assessed and changes are made in the client’s individualized treatment plan as needed.
Educational sessions can include information about the process of addiction, characteristics of the disease of addiction, dynamics of cross addiction, relapse prevention skills, how to create a balanced and drug-free lifestyle, life skills and goal setting, and identifying drug-free leisure activities.
